We are taking orders now for poinsettias from wholesalers and groups planning for their fundraising and decorating activities. Wholesaler and decorators are encouraged to place your orders now so that we can prepare for your pick up and deliveries. We appreciate early orders as they help us organize the greenhouses for the season.

We have plenty to do now that the summer and early fall seasons are behind us. As we prep for the winter holiday season that is nearly upon us, our fall work is just finishing up. The greenhouses will be full of red, white and pink poinsettias in time for holiday decorating which comes right before and after Thanksgiving.

Thank you to all of our customers who visited the farm this year for your summer flowers and vegetable plants. Thanks to our hard working farm staff who helped make for a successful season.

It is wonderful to be able to enjoy these warm fall days when we can make needed repairs to our greenhouses and farm equipment. Now that daylight savings time is past, we have less daylight to finish up those chores. Seems like our farm work is never done.

We welcome your calls for holiday flower orders. Look for us on Facebook and Instagram for updates for when the flowers are ready for retail sales or just give us a call. Remember, we accept cash and checks for payment (no cards). Come by near the end of the month for a visit and bring home your locally grown poinsettias from our family farm.

It is that time of the year when we want to welcome you back and for us to tell you how busy we have been over the winter and early spring filling the greenhouses for the spring and summer planting seasons. Tim and Crystal along with our extensive farm team have been doing the necessary planting, watering, fertilizing and filling orders for our wholesale customers and fund raising groups. Our season is well on its way and we encourage you to place your orders now so that they will be ready for your events.

Live plants from a local family owned farm make long lasting gifts for Moms, Dads, birthdays and for hosts of those summer cookouts and family gatherings. Live plants are great for group fund raising activities and we would be pleased to provide you with those plants.

This year, as in the past, we have some different plant varieties along with customer favorites so that everyone will have great live plant decorating options. We prepared a greenhouse full of Proven Winners’ combinations and have many classic color combinations that will make your gardens and patios pop with color.

We are currently open for retail during limited hours and welcome your calls or visits for orders. We will be open daily starting on Monday, April 28th so look for us on Facebook and Instagram or give us a call if you want to know our hours. Remember, we accept cash and checks for payment (no cards). Come by soon for a visit and bring home your locally grown annuals, vegetable plants and herbs!

Your April Garden

   Gardening Chores in Connecticut

Pull back mulch from perennials to allow the soil to warm up but be prepared to temporarily cover them if heavy frosts are predicted.

For an instant spring show, fill containers with purchased forced spring bulbs from supermarkets and garden centers.

Freezing temperatures don’t harm pansies, but if they are purchased directly from the greenhouse they should be gradually exposed to outdoor temperatures before planting.

Dead spots in the lawn can still be renovated in early April. Top dress bare areas with a mix of topsoil and compost, reseed, and keep moist until germination.

Prune early flowering shrubs such as forsythia after flowers have faded. Complete removal of diseased, weak, or crossing branches on shrubs and small trees.

Be sure to visit Glendale Farms now for pansies and limited spring flowers.

We accept cash and checks only.
